You’re Afraid Of Your Potential

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate, it is that we are powerful beyond measure.

The story that you tell yourself is the one you will believe. This sounds cliché, but it is true. Whatever you think and say about yourself, that’s how you will act and behave.

That’s why it’s incredibly important to have compassion for yourself and to have confidence to push for your goals.

Too often we’re our own biggest obstruction. We get in our own way without even realizing it sometimes.

I’ve had the idea for a blog since around 2018, but I only started in 2023…literally 5 years. Why? Your girl just got in her own way. I had to learn to step aside if I wanted to get ahead. Let’s talk about it.

How do you get out of your own way?

Just start.

Listen, you’re probably gonna suck at your first few sales pitches, but you’ll learn, your first video edit on your channel is going to be tough, but you’ll get better. Running a mile is going to feel like your lungs are bursting, but a marathon is possible.

If you just begin, you’ll find that it’s much easier to solve for issues that actually exist than solving for imaginary ones. This was one of my biggest problems. I had all these ideas of things I thought I’d have problems with, turns out, my actual problems… completely different.

It wasn’t until I started that I knew I needed to work on.

Embrace Failure.

This is where your ego needs a check.

The pathway to success is paved with failure. How else will you know what works and what doesn’t?

You have to embrace the idea that you will fail, but with each failure, there is a lesson to be learned. It makes you better and more informed for when you try again.

The biggest problem people have with failure is that they don’t want to be embarrassed in front of others, and if you’re comparing yourself to others, this is heightened.

But what you’re not realizing, is that you’re only seeing the end result of others’ roads to success. They have also failed.

Visualize Your Future Self

If you want to become a millionaire and you’re far from it right now, there’s no need to put yourself down because of your lack of funds now. Instead, ask yourself this question.

What would a millionaire do? Would they spend money on frivolous things? Or would they save and invest?

If you want to be athletic and more in shape, ask yourself what would a healthier version of yourself do.

Would you eat 4 donuts just because they’re free at the office? Or would you go for a walk every afternoon because that’s what a healthier you would do?

When you can visualize what that higher potential version of yourself would do and start making those actions now, it will close the gap between where you want to be and where you are now.

If you think about it, the only way you won’t reach your potential is if you allow fear and failure to stop you from actually trying again. If you quit, you’re guaranteed to never achieve what you want. Fear is probably the most common reason we have for never changing.

Your ability to achieve is limitless. Push forward. You got this.

LESSON: Don’t be afraid of your potential.
