Build Routines To Succeed

If you’re reading this blog, then you’re most likely trying to better yourself. You’re about self-improvement and becoming successful.
Success is predicated on what you do day in and day out. You don’t just wake up and you’re rich, or you’ve lost a lot of weight, or you can speak another language. You must take daily, actionable steps. If you want success, then you must build routines.
Here’s what I’ve learned.
Successful People Have Routines
For years I went through life just winging it, bemoaning myself as to why I couldn’t be more successful than I was. What I failed to understand was that all the successful people I was trying to model myself after were successful because they were building out routines. Routines help to improve on good habits, and consistent good habits are the building blocks of success.
In truth, after having a routine, I feel like having no routine is so much more stressful. With routines, I know what I need to do, when I need to do it, and how it helps me, body, mind, and soul. Having that clearer direction and focus simply makes life easier.
Wake Up And Sleep To Win
In my humble opinion, if there are only two routines you add to your life, it should be what you do when you wake and how to prep for sleep. Just these two tweaks changed my life. Think about what you need to do in the mornings to start the day off with a win? Remember that not every routine will fit with your lifestyle, so don’t feel like something HAS to be a part of your routine; build one that meshes with your lifestyle.
I workout in the morning because I work in a business that can wreck the rest of my day once I get onsite. Working out just after I get up ensures I get it done for the day. There’s no guarantee I could get a workout done in the afternoon. It also puts me in a great mood!
Sleep routine is where I feel a lot of people can make some drastic changes. Anything from reading from a book, cutting out the daily scroll time on social media, building a journaling habit (check out my article on that!), or just getting to bed earlier will help in giving your body a more stable, reliable sleep schedule. The better you sleep, the better your brain works. It’s honestly a game changer.
Routines Reveal Values
Routines help limit procrastination, prioritize your goals, reduce stress, and determine your values. It also lowers reliance on willpower and motivation. When a behavior becomes habit, it just becomes a part of who we are. It helps us answer this question:
What is valuable to you?
When you realize you can set up your life in such a way that you can put yourself in the best position to be successful and not have to rely on you being the most efficient version of yourself all the time, there’s so much pressure that’s released. And setting up this particular kind of life isn’t very difficult. If it’s valuable to you, you will make time for it.
Don’t believe me? Stop going to work. Yea, see most of you won’t do that because money is valuable to you. You might hate your job, but you’re going to go everyday because you want to get paid.
Success comes from consistency, and consistency is built from routine. It helps us build good habits, determine our priorities, improve productivity, and most importantly, saves us time. First step is to figure out what you value, then it’s all about building the daily habits that will make you successful.
